Dear Church Family:
Jesus Christ Is In The Boat In Mark 4:35-41, a miracle is told about Jesus calming a horrific storm which caused his disciples to fear for their lives. All it took was a word from the Master. I think this storm was intended as a time for testing and teaching. I spent several years on Navy sea duty—I know what it means to be in a storm that could sink your ship and cause the loss of all aboard. (I didn’t know the Lord at that time.) Although the disciples had Jesus in the boat with them their fear was great because they thought he didn’t care. We are in a type of fierce storm now. Please remember that Jesus is in the boat with us. He does care and has provision to see us through this storm. Be of good hope and have faith! Pastor Bill Ritchey Notice: We will now be sending the devotionals out early in the mornings for those of you that usually look at their e-mails in the mornings. We will send a separate e-mail out at 2:00 PM with any updates from the church. So be sure to check your e-mails twice a day. Be sure to check back at 2:00 PM today to get the latest updates from WWCN If any of you have stories of how God has supplied your need, blessed you, or how you have ministered to those around you, please send them to the church's email and I will forward them on to Traci and Pastor Michael. We want to hear your God Stories! As we continue to live in these challenging days we still have the Hope that lies in knowing Jesus Christ as our personal Savior. Continue to use every opportunity to share this Hope which can only be found in Jesus Christ with those who may not know Him! If you are experiencing a spiritual need, or just need someone to talk to, our pastoral staff is here to help. You can contact any of our pastoral staff or you can also call the church office at 273-2248. It is being answered 24/7.

If you have any news you would like to have included in our daily update, contact Pastor Fran, or one of our staff pastors. They will make sure it happens. Stay in, Stay Safe, and Stay in The Word! Your Pastoral Staff Dear Church Family:In this time of uncertainty in our world, the one certain thing we have is God. We should not focus on the situation but rather look through this and see Christ Himself in the middle of the storm with us. This is a beautiful time to carry out the fruits of the Spirit the Apostle Paul describes in Galatians 5:22-23 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control“
When we live these fruits we are being Christ like. Let us remember what James wrote, “Consider it our joy my brothers and sisters when you face trials of many kinds, because you know the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance do its work so you may be mature and complete not lacking in anything." James 1:2-4 We're gonna get through this and be stronger for it. He Is Near God as I see your glory coming to life now The flowers peeking their heads out to grow. The trees with buds about to sprout, I want to praise You and shout. But then I hear the news And I want, but can’t to run to the pews And You remind me that You are near And I should not fear. Sweet peace comes over me then And assurance victory over this invisible enemy we will win. Use the hands and minds of doctors and scientists Give wisdom to our leaders in the midst. Lord, in the meantime, please place a hedge of protection Over our world and families and give us direction. Amen Dear Church Family:if you missed the devotional by Jared this morning, check your email. His devotional was sent out at 6:30 AM. For all administrative Board Members, we will have a “virtual” board meeting Tuesday night using “Zoom” I will be sending each of you a “sign on” number. Stay connected, stay safe and stay in The Faith Your pastoral staff Dear Church Family:In his book The Screwtape Letters, C.S. Lewis said: “Satan’s cause is never more in danger than when a human, no longer desiring, but still intending, to do God’s will, looks round him on a universe from which every trace of Him seems to have vanished, and asks why he has been forsaken, and still obeys.” As we all adjust to this new way of life, you may feel abandoned or forgotten by God. Remember that God still loves you and has promised to “never leave you or forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5b). When everything seems to be crumbling around you, continue to trust and obey.

Read: Ephesians 4 Consider: And the people of God stayed home. And read the Word, and listened, and rested, and moved, and made art like their Creator. They played games together and laughed and danced together. They learned new ways of being and remembered old truths. Some meditated and prayed. Many learned to listen more deeply. Some took a long look at where life had brought them to. And the people of God began to think differently. And their hearts began to heal. And, in the absence of people living in mindless, ignorant, selfish ways, they began to hope. And even though separated by walls and streets and disease, a longing began. A growing longing for unity, for forgiveness for togetherness, for worship. And when the danger had passed, and the people joined together again, they grieved their losses, and made new choices, and dreamed new images, and created new ways to live and worship, ways of the Kingdom, ways of their KING that would heal their community as they had been healed. -Holly Woodbridge This has been freely and perhaps excessively paraphrased by Holly Woodbridge from a Positively Irish post recently passed around Facebook. Update From WWCN: We will now be sending the devotional out early in the mornings for those of you that usually look at their e-mails in the mornings. We will send a separate e-mail out at 2:00 PM with any updates from the church. So be sure to check your e-mails twice a day. “When all kinds of trials and temptations crowd into your life, don’t resent them as intruders. Welcome them as friends. Realize they serve to produce in you the quality of endurance.” Adversity. Sickness. Hardship. Disruption. These words appear to be the daily diet of most headlines these days. We cry, Yuck! The writers of scripture seem to view these things through a whole new set of rose-colored spectacles. The Greek word James uses for trial is peirasmois. It literally means a struggle that will reveal one’s true character. It’s like how a stress test reveals the state of your physical heart. This revealing is actually a form of God’s mercy. God knows that there is an actual joy that comes from discovering the truth about ourselves. As we face these challenging days ahead may we consider these questions with joy. God, where do You want to be at work in surprising ways? God, how could I partner together with You in these trials right where I am? Dear Church Family:Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; (Psalm 23:4) There are times when we all need a new beginning, a renewed relationship with God. Times when we fail, rebel, or we hide in our inner personal cave of fear from circumstances. In Jesus, we can find forgiveness, illumination to our path and eternal hope. God’s morals do not change with the changing world. His Word is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. So, therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. God has a new beginning for you and it begins at the cross, today. Step through. Pastor Jerry Update From WWCN:

Dear Church Family:When all this craziness concerning the Coronavirus pandemic began, I felt a real uneasiness in my spirit. I wasn’t afraid necessarily, but it could have very easily turned to fear if I didn’t have Jesus in my life and if I didn’t know without a doubt that I could stand on His promises to never leave me or forsake me. When I went to the stores and found the shelves had been swept clean of supplies, once again I felt this uneasiness in my spirit. Not because I was fearful of not having the food or supplies that I might need but I couldn’t help but think about the panic and fear that was driving the people of this world. I knew that I didn’t have to give into the fear that was so prevalent around me. I could trust in God for my every need, but what about those that didn’t have Jesus and the promises of His Word. I immediately began to pray as I went up and down the empty isles for the people that were living in panic and fear.
I have several devotional that I follow each day and the next morning my devotional read like this: “When the Coronavirus pandemic began, I knew my husband, who is an infectious disease physician, could possibly be involved in caring for some of the infected. One night last week, a colleague texted him saying he had received word from a friend in New York saying infectious disease doctors are dying there. The next morning the word "Do not fear what they fear" came to me so frequently that I realized it was a word from God. I found it in Isaiah 8:12, 13: "...do not fear what they fear, and do not dread it. The Lord Almighty is the one you are to regard as holy, he is the one you are to fear, he is the one you are to dread." God spoke these words to Isaiah when Judah was threatened by an enemy invasion and the people were terrified. Scripture says, "the hearts of Ahaz [the king] and his people were shaken, as the trees of the forest are shaken by the wind" (Isaiah 7:2). Because of their fear, the king was ready to form an alliance with other nations rather than depend on God for protection. Isaiah warned King Ahaz to reject fear and to look to God. To refuse to do so was to become more and more fearful. They would ultimately be leaving their lives in the hands of an unknown power. Their failure to trust God, would make Him appear helpless, indifferent, even insignificant rather than the Lord Almighty. Trusting God for protection during the Coronavirus crisis, of course does not exclude doing what is reasonable to avoid the virus. "A prudent person foresees danger and takes precautions" (Proverbs 22:3 NLT). But I've discovered we can do so without fear.” By Althea Hinthorn So do not fear what they fear...Trust God! Blessings to all of you, Pastor Fran Update From WWCN: Because of the difficulty many had in connecting to our live feed this past Sunday we will be moving to a different and more secure service. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 In this world we will face all kinds of obstacles, trials and tribulations and we should be wary of any doctrines or teachings that say we shouldn’t have to face these things. Why? Because the Lord said we will have tribulations. So, the encouragement He is giving is simply this: You’re going to face trials, but GOD is greater than any problem you will face in this world! Here are some things you can know about the storms of life: God knows exactly where you are emotionally and mentally when trouble hits. He understands your frustration and need to ask why a certain event has taken place. He never condemns your feelings. Instead, He provides wisdom for all you face. He will not leave you comfortless. Jesus does not leave us on our own to deal with heartache and trials. He has given us the Holy Spirit to comfort us when we are too weak to continue. Think on His goodness and how He never fails you. A promise you can claim: “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7 Pastor Dick Guilfoil Update from WWCN

We will continue to send daily e-mail devotions, with any current updates. Never forget, you are a child of The King; loved, blessed and protected by Him whose Grace is sufficient. Dear Church Family: In times of uncertainty be reminded of what IS certain: God is Faithful (Ps. 36:5) God Provides (Philippians 4:19) God is in Control (1 Peter 5:6-7) He never fails (Romans 8:38-39) He loves you (Romans 5:8) He is able to do immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine. (Ephesians 3:20-21) God is still and always will be on the throne. Have faith, take courage, trust and walk through this uncertain time with confidence in a God who knows all, who cares so much for you that he would number the hairs on your head, who created you with a purpose and knit you together in your mother’s womb, he will not forsake you. For we who are called by His name, live by faith and not by sight. Take this opportunity to slow down, to be more intentional with your family and to share the Truth of Christ with your neighbors. Dear Church Family: Everyone’s world has quickly and drastically changed. We all struggle when things don’t go according to plan. So, what do we do, especially when there isn’t an end in sight? The best place to go is to the One who holds every tomorrow. I love how David reminds us in Psalm 46 that “God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. So, we will not fear when earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into the sea. Let the oceans roar and foam. Let the mountains tremble as the waters surge!” For David, the world was crumbling around him, yet he found comfort in knowing God is a refuge and strength. Today, I simply want to encourage you to run to God. Give God your concerns and worries about tomorrow, and remember He’s always there to help in troubled times. -Pastor Michael An update from WWCN:

Dear Church Family:Accept and Adapt. Two words which can guide us through new and challenging days! Accept you are in the middle of a new normal. Adapt your thinking, emotions, hopes and expectations to these new days. Allow the words of Philippians 4:4-7 to direct and encourage you. “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. Hey church, we've got an incredible opportunity to serve outside our church walls. Take a look around your circles. Consider the effects of COVID-19 on the lives of the people you know. Are there single working parents with young kids who have no place to go? Are there shut-ins? The elderly? Someone suddenly in financial distress because a job has been taken in this pandemic? Someone need a ride? Help with homework? Groceries picked up? Take a slice of their burden. Offer a way to help. Step into their lives and offer your time, your money, your sweat, your tears, the love of Christ within you. Woods family, this has the power to bring us together and it's going to take the whole body doing each part in order to share in Christ’s mission. "Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it." 1 Corinthians 12:12 (Grab your Bible and read the whole chapter.) Our church might not be meeting in its building right now, but THE CHURCH has an opportunity here. And that means me and you. Let's do this church! Find your person! Lend your help! We'll get through this together! Here are some examples to inspire you of what some of our church family members are doing:
“I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.” John 14:18
In uncertain times we are reminded to invite Jesus into our doubts and fears. Notice His promise, “I will come to you.” Allow Him to do just that. Then as you live in the consciousness of His presence, celebrate the fact that you are not alone. He is with you and will not forsake or leave you. As you walk in the comfort of His presence, remember the words of Peter. “Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you. Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. ]But, resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your [b]brethren who are in the world. After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you. To Him be dominion forever and ever. Amen.”(I Peter 5:6-11) Pastor Holmes Update from WWCN: Here is what we plan to do to continue leading people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ:

After considerable discussion, today we have decided to cancel all live-services and all on-campus programing for the next two weeks. While we understand this comes as a disappointment for many of our church family members, we made this difficult decision in a spirit of faith, rather than fear. With the recent guidelines of the Center for Disease Control, gatherings of no more than 50 for the next eight weeks, we have decided it better to err on the side of caution and listen to the advice of public health officials. We have the responsibility to our church family, to protect their health and safety. We have the responsibility to the Topeka community, to help minimize the impact of the virus among at-risk populations. So, here is what we plan to do to continue leading people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ:
In the end, it will be impossible to know if we overreacted or did too much, but it will be quite apparent if we under-reacted or did too little. Please know your pastoral staff is here to assist you in any way possible. Trust God, continue to make wise decisions and watch how God works in our changing world. Your Pastoral Staff, L. D.
