Daily Devotional and WWCN Up Date From Pastor Holmes

Dear Church Family:Accept and Adapt.  Two words which can guide us through new and challenging days!  Accept you are in the middle of a new normal.  Adapt your thinking, emotions, hopes and expectations to these new days.  Allow the words of Philippians 4:4-7 to direct and encourage you. “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice!  Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near.  Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.  And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Hey church, we've got an incredible opportunity to serve outside our church walls. Take a look around your circles. Consider the effects of COVID-19 on the lives of the people you know. Are there single working parents with young kids who have no place to go? Are there shut-ins? The elderly?  Someone suddenly in financial distress because a job has been taken in this pandemic?  Someone need a ride? Help with homework?  Groceries picked up? Take a slice of their burden. Offer a way to help. Step into their lives and offer your time, your money, your sweat, your tears, the love of Christ within you.  Woods family, this has the power to bring us together and it's going to take the whole body doing each part in order to share in Christ’s mission.
"Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it." 1 Corinthians 12:12  (Grab your Bible and read the whole chapter.)
Our church might not be meeting in its building right now, but THE CHURCH has an opportunity here. And that means me and you. Let's do this church! Find your person! Lend your help! We'll get through this together!
Here are some examples to inspire you of what some of our church family members are doing:

• One has offered his services as a 12 step recovery resource.
• Another has offered to help with tutoring via FaceTime.
• One of our ladies shared her toilet paper with her neighbor who is a daycare provider.
• One of our young moms baked muffins and passed them out with her kids to her neighbors with a note to call if in need.
• One of our teens mother is sharing their family devotion time each evening via Facebook.
• One of our young families has taken on the responsibilities to watch a single working moms children while school is out.
• Another mom is planning to have her children draw pictures and write notes of encouragement for shut-ins.
