ASPECTS OF PRAYER AND WHY IT IS IMPORTANT FOR US IN OUR LIFE
Session 4: CHRISTIAN WITNESS "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth." (Acts 1:8) Telling what you know about the Lord Jesus Christ and His saving grace is not just a passing thought, or something we might consider doing if we have time after we get all our other To-Do’s done. Maybe we are afraid of people rejecting us, making fun of us, or what they might think or say, but remember, Christ already went through it all for you, and as He lived, He prayed “Not my will, but thine”. May everything you say, do and pray be prefaced by those same words “Not my will, but thine oh Lord”. Christ gave us a command that we are to tell others about Him and it comes with the promise to equip us with power to do just that. How can we do that? David gave you this foundational prayer: “Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer; And attend to the voice of my supplications (Psalm 86:6). Pray for the Holy Spirit to give you courage and the right words that you may show others by your life that Jesus Christ truly makes a difference to you. What has Jesus done for you? Is your religion worth having? He has Saved you, given you hope and eternality with Him. Whatever the world can do for you pales in comparison to that. Tell and teach others! The Great commission does not include the word “Pastor” in its text that I can find, rather it is “YE”, YOU whom Christ has commissioned to Go and complete His work. “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15). “Go therefore and make disciples” (Mat. 28: 19). Teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you” (Mat. 28:20). Two hundred years from now, you won't value the time you spent watching television, playing sports, or being entertained, but you'll place great value on the time you spent praying for and trying to bring lost souls to the Lord Jesus Christ. Your Savior and Lord said, "Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." (Mat. 6:19-21) As you pray for the Lord's will in your life, may the Holy Spirit speak into your life God's empowerment by which you may be a witness of brilliant light in a dark world to guide others to God and His infinite Grace.
