Read Matthew 6:25-34
This passage is one of my favorites in the Gospels. The entire passage is very encouraging: don’t worry, God’s got you covered! However, the way it ends is my favorite part. Jesus ends this optimistic passage with a very realistic, pragmatic statement. “So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” (Mat 6:34, NASB) Let that settle in for a minute: Jesus Himself, God clothed in flesh, just acknowledged the fact that today has problems! He’s not sugarcoating it, He’s not denying anything, He’s simply saying that you can rely on God to get through today, and get through tomorrow, and love Him every moment of it! Every moment of the Coronavirus, every moment of the election, every moment of everything else, God has never relinquished His sovereignty, and He’s never turned it over to any of us: He still watches the birds, the flowers, and us!
