I love reading fiction in all sorts of genres. Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Mystery, you name it. The thing that I like the most about fiction is that, with very few exceptions, the good guys win in the end. The excitement of the story comes from figuring out how the heroes get there. Every once in a while, when things look so dark that you can’t see a way for the story to turn around, it’s very tempting to flip to the back of the book and see that yes, good wins out in the end.
Unfortunately, life is nowhere near as predictable as a book. However, we do have one Book that can give us hope. The Bible, while not a work of fiction, is the ultimate account of Good winning over evil, present in both Old and New testaments. While preparing to write this, I was reminded of a gospel song that says “I read the back of the Book and we win, no more living in darkness we’ll be living at home with Him. You see there ain’t no need to worry about it if you’re born again, ‘cause I read the back of the Book and we win!” No matter how dark the world seems, we can always read the back of the Book and know that He wins!
