Psalm 19:14 “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my rock and my Redeemer.” Words are powerful! They possess energy and power. With them we can do irreparable harm or amazing good. It seems one of the clearest signs of a growing disciple of Christ is the way they use words. These are the ones who may think about a certain response, only to change their mind when they realize it could do harm or be taken wrong. They have learned to practice what I like to call, “bite your tongue theology.” In our devotional reading today I am always reminded of the person we are and are becoming by what passes from our heart to our lips. How many relationships would still be blooming if there had just been a more thoughtful use of words. How many hurt feelings and wounded self-esteems would still be intact if more caution had been observed? So, Christ Followers, ask God to help you stay quiet if your words are going to cause harm. Ask Him to teach you to, let the words of your mouth and the meditation of your heart be acceptable in His sight for He is your rock and your Redeemer. Pastor Holmes
