Not that I have already obtained this or have already reached the goal; but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. Beloved, I do not consider that I have made it my own; but this one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the heavenly call of God in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 3:12-14) One of the key positions of a follower of Christ is forward thinking and looking. When we keep our focus on the past, we inevitably end up in the wrong place. As I grow more and more in my walk with Christ, one of the key things I’ve learned is that when I focus on the problem, I ultimately end up giving it more power to invade my thoughts and lure me further into familiar temptations. The more power it has, the more I fail. However, when I focus on Christ and the way he has overcome the power of sin and death in my life, the less power the problem has, and greater the victory in Christ. Yes, I understand how the problem started in my life, but greater still, I understand how it ends. Today, I challenge you to keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we’re in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed. -Pastor Michael Photo by Maico Amorim on Unsplash
