And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28
I keep a large bowl of candy on the conference table in my office. It is there for the “kids” of the church to enjoy whenever their sweet tooth needs a fix. (I have notices our “kids” range in age from between 2-92!)
A few weeks ago we had a funeral here at the church. As we often do, a meal was prepared for the family and friends of the one who had passed. After I had prayer for the family and the meal I retired to my office to complete a few chores. As I was working away, three little children I was not familiar with wandered into the office. Upon seeing the candy bowl, they asked if they could have a piece. I said sure, help yourself! When I looked up each on them was walking out with both hands full! Now remember, just down the hall they had ham, cheesy potatoes, assorted vegetables, salad, and a vast array of desserts!
As I watched them go, I was reminded again that most of us usually want the sweet things of life over the things that are best for us!
God is so good to remind us that while things coming our way are not always sweet, they are often what is best for us! So for today, trust that the thing God is allowing into your life is what is eventually best for you. As children of God we can immerse ourselves in Romans 8:28 and find great peace.
