Walk in the Same Way: A pondering by Holly Woodbridge
1 John 2 3 And by this we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments. 4 Whoever says “I know him” but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him, 5 but whoever keeps his word, in him truly the love of God is perfected. By this we may know that we are in him: 6 whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked. From a kids song by Frank Hernandez: I wanna be just like You, Jesus I wanna do the things You do I want my words to always be true I wanna be just like You The Hymn writer, Thomas Obediah Chisholm, voices it like this: I have one deep, supreme desire, that I may be like Jesus. To this I fervently aspire, that I may be like Jesus. I want my heart His throne to be, so that a watching world may see His likeness shining forth in me. I want to be like Jesus. When I was young and was asked what I wanted to be when I grew up, I would answer, “I want to be like Jesus.” And I still do. I am not very young any more, but as I walk with my Savior that is still my desire. How about you? Let me close with this chorus as our prayer: O to be like Thee! O to be like Thee! Blessed Redeemer, pure as Thou art; Come in Thy sweetness, come in Thy fullness; Stamp Thine own image deep on my heart.
